Who You Are:

Scientific Program Manager - A Scientific Program Manager oversees and manages scientific research programs, ensuring alignment with a mission to advance biomedical research. This role involves coordinating research initiatives, managing grants, and collaborating with scientists, institutions, and stakeholders to promote scientific discovery. Some key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the scientific scope, progress, and outcomes of research projects ensuring high-quality and innovative research.
  • Review research grant proposals, assess their scientific merit, and make recommendations for funding.
  • Manage a portfolio of grants, ensuring that grantees meet their research milestones, stay within budget, and comply with policies.
  • Facilitate and act as a liaison between NIH, researchers, external partners and  other government agencies.
  • Provide scientific guidance and leadership to principal investigators, grantees, and research teams throughout the project life cycle.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and updates on research projects to stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to scientists and other staff to meet goals and objectives in a timely manner.
  • Ensure effective team collaboration and coordination to meet deliverables and deadlines.

Qualifications:

PhD, MD, or equivalent in biomedical sciences, public health, or a related field.

7+ years’ Experience managing scientific research programs, ideally in a government, academic, or research institution setting.

Proven experience in managing research grants, and program evaluation.

In-depth knowledge of biomedical research trends, scientific methodologies, and the ability to assess the merit of research proposals.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Familiarity with NIH policies, federal regulations, and ethical standards governing research
