Communications Consultant As a videographer/video editor/photographer with our team, you will support important public health education and outreach communications, public affairs and media relations efforts. If you are a creative storyteller, you can use your talents to make a real difference. We’re looking for a talented and creative multimedia specialist to film, produce, and edit high quality videos, motion graphics, animations, audio and graphic products for use primarily on social media and FDA.gov. Experience with 508 compliance is required. Our team’s work is focused on providing creative services, including digital content development (graphics and infographics), video support and development, photography, audio content, exhibit display products, web content design and management, and project management support for the Office of External Affairs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work on various video projects which may include, but are not limited to: planning and shooting studio and event videos, managing lighting, creating and/or editing consumer informational videos, creating videos with b-roll, recording multi-track audio for video or podcast, editing footage and sound files, creating graphics for videos (e.g. lower thirds and simple animations), creating simple motion graphics for social media or the web, screen recording, taking photographs, scout locations, inserting static and motion graphics, titling, adding music/voiceover/SFX, media management and archiving project media.

  • Video recording and photographing people and creating a film clip via editing raw footage.

  • Preparing broadcast-quality background film or B-roll .

  • Troubleshooting problems with equipment.

  • Generating closed captioning, graphics, or other on-screen text (e.g. open captions) into a video.

  • Making recommendations for best practices for video creation and storage and distribution of final videos.

  • Contributing to video production planning. This may include assisting in the development of “scripts”/outlines with description of visuals for FDA approval, developing storyboards, developing shots lists and production schedules, and brainstorming concepts. Video types include live action, b-roll and stock video with voice-over, and animation.

  • Maintaining a working knowledge of current trends, techniques and technology in video production.

  • Portfolio required with examples of video projects.

    CONTRACT SPECIFIED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    Required skills and experience include:

  • More than 10 years of specialized experience;

  • A strong sense of visual style (mood, tone, balance) with a firm grasp of the fundamental principles of videography;

  • Required computer software skills: Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud -- particularly Premier Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Also proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency with Camtasia a plus;

  • Proficiency in Mac OS;

  • Familiarity with public health, government/private sector experience a plus;

  • Knowledge of 2D/3D, stop motion and computer-generated animation is a plus;

  • Strong organizational and communications skills, both verbal, written and strong analytical skills;

  • Strong attention to detail with good communication and customer service skills;

  • Experience with developing content for social media platforms;
  • Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines;

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor’s degree

  • Undergraduate degree required
