Power BI Developer

As a Power BI Developer, you will play a crucial role in transforming unmapped data into actionable business insights. Your primary focus will be on end-to-end development, creating visually appealing and interactive reports, dashboards, and data models using Power BI. You’ll collaborate with business leadership, understand their process of tracking and maintaining data, gather requirements for the report, and translate this into effective low maintenance reporting solutions. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and creativity to solve problems.

Responsibilities

1. Data Modeling and Transformation:
   • Design and map data models with a high number of tables (100+) from to transform unstructured data into meaningful insights.
   • Utilize Power BI’s capabilities for ETL, including Power Query, advanced editor (M), and related tools.
   • Handle complex data scenarios, including merging data from multiple sources. (ie, data lake, api, csv, websites)
   • Understand relational database concepts and design efficient data models.
   • Normalize data structures and establish relationships between tables.
2. Report Development:
   • Develop user friendly, visually appealing, and interactive reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI.
   • Create compelling charts, graphs, and KPIs to convey critical business metrics to end users.
   • Write optimized and complex DAX formulas to calculate measures, perform aggregations, and create custom calculations.
3. Business Intelligence Services:
   • Align existing and future reporting requests with company standards.
   • Regularly check in with business users for debugging, enhancements, or change requests.
   • Be proactive in asking questions, seeking clarity, and understanding business context.
   • Troubleshoot issues related to data quality, performance, and report accuracy.
4. Business and Finance Reporting:
   • Familiarity with financial reporting concepts (e.g., profit and loss, balance sheets, cash flow) and executive reporting metrics a plus.
   • Present findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Technology, or a related field.
• Experience in data preparation, data warehousing, and BI projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform a plus.
• Strong SQL skills for data querying and manipulation
• Ability to introduce solutions where you see them
• An easy-going attitude and a willingness to collaborate.
• Ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of hands-on experience in a corporate environment and be able to quickly adapt to changes and needs of the business.
